Officer of the Deck

At anytime the shop is open, one qualified member shall be present on the property and designated as the Officer of the Deck (OOD). The OOD is responsible for ensuring that the workshop rules are being adhered to and that the workshop experience for all users meets that expected by the organization. The OOD has the final word as to all issues that arise that deal with safety, compliance with the rules, or issues involving interpersonal disputes. Members are expected to comply with what the OOD dictates, including, if necessary, for a member to leave the property for the day.

OOD Qualifications

The Executive Committee may approve a member as being a qualified OOD if the member meets the following qualifications:

  1. The member has successfully attended and passed the WW4W Safety Course.

  2. The member has been certified by the Vice President - Operations as being qualified to teach the WW4W Safety Course.

  3. The member has successfully completed the first aid training course Basic First Aid and CPR offered by either the Red Cross or the American Heart Association,.

  4. The member has demonstrated an understanding of the OOD’s job duties and responsibilities.

  5. Knows how to safely operate each of the major tools in the shop.
